Terms of Service
Last updated 26 July 2026
Agreement
By creating a FishnIQ account or using the app you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use it.
These terms are written in English. Any translation is provided for convenience and the English version governs.
The most important thing: this is not a navigation tool
FishnIQ shows depth contours, seabed information, tides, weather and sea state. None of it is suitable for navigation, and it must not be used for it.
Our chart layers come from public survey data of varying age, resolution and coverage, and every layer states where its coverage stops. Depth data can be decades old, interpolated, or simply absent. Tide predictions are predictions, and actual water level is affected by wind and pressure.
Navigate using official charts and proper equipment. You are responsible for the safety of your vessel and everyone aboard. Conditions at sea change faster than any forecast.
Your account
You need an account to use most of the app, and you sign in with Google or Apple. Keep access to that account secure — anyone who can sign in as you can see your fishing spots.
One person, one account. Do not share it, and do not create accounts to impersonate someone else.
You must be at least 13 to use FishnIQ, or older if the law where you live sets a higher minimum for using a service like this without a parent's consent — 16 in some European countries. If you are under 18, use it with a parent's knowledge.
What you post
You keep ownership of your photos and the catches you log. By posting them you give us permission to store them and to display them in the app — in the feed, on your public profile, and on leaderboards you enter.
Remember that a catch you log is public: species, length, photo, time and your handle. Your location is not published, but a photograph may show a recognisable place. Post accordingly.
Do not post anything unlawful, abusive, or that you do not have the right to post. We can remove content and suspend accounts that break this, and we do not have to explain the decision in advance.
Fair use of the service
Use the app as a person using an app. Do not scrape it, do not automate it, do not attempt to reach other users' data, and do not deliberately overload it.
Do not attempt to obtain paid features without paying for them. Rate limits and usage caps exist and we enforce them.
Subscriptions and payment
FishnIQ has a free tier and a paid Pro subscription. Pro unlocks extended forecasts, the AI coach, AI fish identification, marine conditions and bite alerts.
Payment is handled by Stripe. We never see your card details.
A subscription renews automatically each month until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from your account settings; cancelling stops the next renewal and you keep Pro until the end of the period you have paid for.
FishnIQ Pro is sold only through our website. We do not sell subscriptions through the Apple App Store or Google Play, so there is nothing to buy or cancel inside the mobile apps — they let you use a subscription you already have. Billing questions come to us, not to a store.
Refunds, plainly: a subscription is charged monthly in advance and we do not refund part of a month. Cancel whenever you like and you keep Pro until the period you have already paid for runs out — you are not billed again.
Deleting your account is different, and worth knowing before you do it: deletion cancels the subscription immediately rather than at the end of the period, so you give up any paid time remaining. If you want the time you have paid for, cancel instead of deleting and delete once the period ends.
We will refund you in two situations. If we close or suspend your account for a reason that is not your fault, we refund the unused part of the period. And if you were charged after cancelling, or charged twice, that is our mistake and we will put it right — tell us at [email protected].
None of this reduces rights you have by law. If you live somewhere with a statutory cooling-off period for digital services — most of the EU and the UK give 14 days — that right applies regardless of what this section says, and asking us to start your subscription immediately is what may end it early.
We may change the price of a subscription. If we do, we will tell you before it applies to you, and you can cancel if you do not want to continue.
Availability
We try to keep FishnIQ running and correct, but we do not guarantee it will be available, uninterrupted, or free of errors. Forecasts, ratings and identifications are best-effort and can be wrong.
Features can change or be removed. We will not remove a paid feature without notice to people paying for it.
Ending things
You can stop using FishnIQ and delete your account at any time from your account settings.
We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. If we close a paid account for a reason that is not your fault, we will refund the unused part of the period you paid for.
Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, FishnIQ is provided as-is, and we are not liable for loss arising from your use of it — including anything that happens on the water.
[CONFIRM: liability cap, warranty disclaimer wording, and indemnity. These are the clauses most worth a lawyer's time, and they interact with consumer law that varies by jurisdiction. Do not ship this section as drafted without review.]
Changes and governing law
We may update these terms. If a change is significant we will tell you in the app before it takes effect, and continuing to use FishnIQ after that means you accept it.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, USA, and any dispute will be handled in the courts of Sarasota County, Florida. [CONFIRM with a lawyer: this is the natural default given where FishnIQ operates, but a consumer in another country may retain rights in their own jurisdiction regardless of what this says.]
